Unsorted Stuff

darcs repositories

Some weird scripts, while not specifically mentioned here, are available through darcsweb. Feel free to gloat.

hotsyncd (for Palm and JPilot)

Little script which binds to socket and waits for your Palm PDA to send UDP synchronization request. It then starts jpilot-sync from JPilot, because loop option of jpilot-sync is permanently broken. Saves you from trouble of having JPilot open and clicking the stupid hotsync button.

It is common knowledge that Palm engineers in their infinite wisdom ignored the idea of network byte order (maybe they are just devil worshippers or something), so IP address of primary computer for network sync should be spelled backwards. Or you will have to setup a network interface alias with your IP address, you guessed it, backwards.

Bonus

Even smaller script to schedule PDB/PRCs installation using jpilot-sync

book-cleanup

Another script I wrote to preprocess books in plain text format for reading on a PDA (I use muBook - good program). I had no intention to install some monster like BookDesigner so here goes. It generates HTML (kinda), inserts soft hyphenation points and cleans up formatting a little bit. Very alpha-quality, but it works for me.

Requirements

I'm too lazy to set hyperlinks now, so google for the stuff.

  • xcode is recommended if you wish to process russian texts in various encodings. Output encoding should be koi8-r or the hyphenation won't work.
  • Perl (of course).
  • Perl module TeX::Hyphen (hacked module with support for russian hyphenation tables included.

Installation/usage notes

Bahbert the IRC bot

Bahbert is a simple scriptable IRC bot written in C# (Mono). It is waay unfinished and, actually, was more of a way to learn C#, but can be used already.

netflow+rrd

A set of scripts that provides easier interface to flow-tools and rrdtool to make nice looking graphs based on netflow data.

example image

Requires recent flow-tools (including flow-rpt2rrd) and rrdtool. Daily, weekly, etc. data accumulation supported. Some tinkering required.

Tiny Page Update Monitor

TPUM is a webapp that periodically checks if webpages are updated. It actually calculates md5 hash of the page, so for now works for static pages only. TPUM is on very early stage of development, it doesn't even have a screenshot yet.

Really, really ancient stuff

hkeyd - flexible hotkey daemon for Windows

win32 binary + source (circa 2002)

«Now playing» plugin for Winamp

Good Jebus, I have Golded opened in this screenshot...

Fancy contraption with on screen display and stuff, circa 2001. Made for ancient 2.x versions of Winamp. I didn't use it since ~2002 so I have no idea if it works with more recent versions of Winamp. If you are crazy enough to build it, you'll probably need MSVC6 and ancient id3lib.

1.1.8-pre12 (win32 binaries + source)

TrayMixer

Cute little volume changer applet which lives in systray and shows actual volume level.

binaries + source, NSIS installer
